Ana Tijoux

4 October - 21:30h Sala Paral·lel 62

Ana Tijoux is the Chilean rapper who protests to the rhythm of hip-hop. Composer, lyricist, arranger and winner of a Latin Grammy. A hip-hop singer in her beginnings, goes beyond this and other borders thanks to a powerful career as a soloist that started in 2009, which has made her the most internationally relevant Chilean figure of her generation.

She was born in France in 1977 during the exile of her Chilean parents, who were fleeing the military dictatorship after the coup of 11 September 1973 in that country. Always highly politically engaged, Tijoux transforms protests into powerful hip-hop songs combined with other rhythms.

In both albums and public statements the artist strongly supports women’s rights and condemns gender violence and inequality. He sings to the Palestinian women as well as to the day labourers in Huelva. This has turned her into a symbol of the feminist movement, able to create alliances around the world.
